Beginnings

Nikki was born on December 10, 1961, at an Air Force Base hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany. Her parents, Nick and Carol listed “JoAnn” on Baby Stathis’ birth certificate. However, when it was time to baptize her, the family priest, Fr. Malloy, expressed extreme displeasure with “JoAnn” and insisted she be named after her father, Nicholas. And, Fr. Malloy added that her middle name should rightly reflect Nick’s love of martinis. Thus, she was thus christened Nicolette Martine Stathis, but affectionally known as Nikki.

Family

Her six older siblings were delighted to meet their beautiful sister. And when a little brother came along several years later, he joined in the siblings’ unwavering love and regard for Nikki. All liked, respected, and admired her and often aspired to be more like her. Nikki brought out the best in all of us! After the family moved from Germany to Southern California, Nikki spent her formative years in Highland. She was a hard worker, kind to a fault, sweet, and stunningly beautiful.  Tall, with luxurious dark hair, incredible blue eyes, and an enchanting smile.

Mission

The value of education can never be overstated.  For almost all who engage in the process of education, the rewards are manifest; the most obvious and easily measurable being economic advancement.  A bit less obvious and certainly more difficult to measure is the larger societal benefit of an educated citizenry.  In 21st century America, we take these benefits to be understood by most and available to all. But the availability of education doesn’t mean that everyone embraces the opportunity.  Our mission at the Brancati Foundation is to support educators and students who might not otherwise have the possibility of education working its wonders.
