Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! In 2024, the Brancati Foundation continued to carry out its mission of supporting educational opportunities in leadership and ethics. We are grateful to our many benefactors, especially those who make recurring donations. Because all the people associated with the foundation contribute their time and talents, we can direct upwards of 97% of our funding to support programs such as those listed below.

Brancati Leadership Award

The Brancati Foundation Leadership Award for outstanding graduates of New Mexico State’s School of Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management was established in 2016. The Fall 2024 awardee are Victoria Sainz and Megan Gill.

Ayden Christopher Stathis Award

The Ayden Christopher Stathis Award was presented to Leyla Andaverde who graduated in June from the 8th grade at the top of her class. In addition to her studies, she served on the Student Government Council and participated in volleyball, basketball, track, and cheerleading. She said the award will help support her involvement in camps for these sports. Leyla plans to become a lawyer and wishes to visit Japan as she gets older. She volunteers her time throughout the summer at LaLa’s Land of Learning, reading books to the children, playing with them and talking with them.

Brooke Serpa presented the 2024 ACS scholarship to Leyla Andaverde.

Nikki Mitchell Scholarship

We established the Nikki Mitchell Scholarship to benefit a graduating senior from Excelsior High School (Victorville, CA), the school where Nikki taught for more than 20 years. The first scholarship will be awarded in 2025.

Stathis Family Grant

The Stathis Family Grant was awarded to Duchesne Preschool of the Sacred Heart, which offers an exemplary preschool education to children in the Omaha, NE region. The grant allowed the school to subsidize tuition for children in the community who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in this amazing educational program. The director of the preschool commented, “Your foundation is making a lifelong difference in the lives of these children and their families. I cannot state emphatically enough how deeply I appreciate you!”

The value of education can never be overstated. For almost all who engage in the process of education, the rewards are manifest; the most obvious and easily measurable being economic advancement. A bit less obvious and certainly more difficult to measure is the larger societal benefit of an educated citizenry. In 21st century America, we take these benefits to be understood by most and available to all. But the availability of education doesn’t mean that everyone embraces the opportunity. Our mission at the Brancati Foundation is to support educators and students who might not otherwise have the possibility of education working its wonders.
